West Midlands Combined Authority provides the 16-18 photocard – a travel subsidy for 16-18 year olds in the West Midlands. The photocard entitles holders to 50% off travel on public transport, including all local buses, trains and trams. It can be used to buy day tickets and returns, but also to buy season tickets for anywhere from 1 week to 1 year.
Anyone who is aged 16-18, and lives in a household where Council Tax is payable to Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall or Wolverhampton Council is eligible for the subsidy. This includes those in education, employment, training, an apprenticeship, or those who are currently unemployed.
The card costs just £10, but is valid for up to 1 year of half price travel. To find out more, check eligibility or to apply, visit www.networkwestmidlands.com/16-18
