HydraForce designs and manufactures high performance hydraulic fluid power cartridge valves, custom manifolds, and electro-hydraulic controls for a wide range of applications and industries.
The company was first established in Chicago, USA in 1985 and the Birmingham site is the European Headquarters which was establishment in 1988. It remains a privately-owned company, with manufacturing facilities across the world, including Birmingham, North America, Brazil and a manifold assembly plant in Asia.
HydraForce’s engineering apprenticeship scheme has run since 2004 and now offers 5-6year degree level apprenticeships in Manufacturing and Electronic Controls. These apprenticeships see employee’s study at Birmingham Metropolitan College full-time for their first year and then includes a day release in their second year while they work on-site at HydraForce in different areas of the business which strengthens their overall engineering capability. The current apprenticeship scheme gives the candidates the opportunity to not only achieve a full degree but to also apply the skills and knowledge obtained, making it a meaningful learning experience.
In 2020, HydraForce broadened its use of apprenticeships to further develop talent and introduced Business Apprenticeships. HydraForces’ apprenticeship scheme and its apprentices have won numerous awards over the years including Large Manufacture of the Year in 2021.
