London Ambulance Service
Our LAS Inclusive Response (OLIR) Programme
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) is proud to deliver the Our LAS Inclusive Response (OLIR) Programme, a pioneering initiative designed to create accessible and inclusive pathways into meaningful careers within the NHS.
The OLIR Programme is built around a simple but powerful promise: every participant is guaranteed a job interview for a frontline or support role at LAS. Working closely with referral agencies such as Jobcentre Plus, training providers, and community organisations, we identify talented individuals who are eager to make a difference in their communities.
The journey begins with information and assessment workshops, which not only introduce participants to LAS but also include essential checks such as Right to Work, qualifications, and practical assessments. Successful candidates then progress to our three-week employability skills programme, where they take part in tailored training covering CV writing, interview preparation, communication skills, teamwork, and resilience building.
What sets OLIR apart is the opportunity to gain real insight into life at LAS. Participants observe live 111 call handling, visit our LAS Museum to explore our heritage, and take guided tours of ambulance stations and Make Ready Hubs. These experiences offer a unique behind-the-scenes look at the vital roles that keep London moving and saving lives.
The programme concludes with a guaranteed interview and ongoing support to ensure participants feel confident and prepared to succeed. By investing in people, building skills, and opening doors, the OLIR Programme is helping us to grow a workforce that truly reflects the diverse communities we serve.
