The Royal Horticultural Society
The Royal Horticultural Society is the UK’s leading gardening charity. We aim to enrich everyone’s life through plants, and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place.
The RHS
- employs more than 1,000 people in many roles, ranging from hands-on gardeners and tree and plant specialists to scientists, educators, ecologists, engineers, and so much more;
- operates across the UK, from Yorkshire to Devon, from Manchester to Essex;
- looks after 5 major public gardens that attract more than 3 million visitors each year;
- carries out influential scientific research that works for the planet;
- runs its own media company;
- puts on major public events every year, such as Chelsea Flower Show.
We have a 200-year tradition of training professional horticulturists and we offer many routes into a wide variety of careers in horticulture:
- talk to us about work experience, volunteering, internships or T-Level placements;
- study for an RHS qualification at one of our approved training centres;
- apply for paid work-based training:
- Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeships,
- 1 year Professional Work Placement in our world-leading gardening teams,
- Level 3 and Level 4 diploma at our flagship garden RHS Wisley;
- study remotely for the Level 6 award Master of Horticulture;
- complete a collaborative PhD or post-doc programme with our Science team.
Whichever route you choose, a career in horticulture truly puts the ‘green’ into Green Careers!
